The UV protection filter is fitted in front of a RL4 and RL66 series ring light and absorbs the UV radiation emitted towards the operator, while the excitation light needed for the inspection still reaches the part. That noticeably reduces the load on eyes and skin at a UV workstation.
The filter also raises contrast: it blocks the violet scatter that would otherwise brighten the fluorescence image, so weak markers stand out more clearly. In UV adhesive control and residue inspection this is often the difference between visible and not visible.
The filter does not replace personal protective equipment. UV safety glasses are basic equipment at every UV workstation and are also available as an accessory.
